Last month, we signed a contract with MPK Łódź for the delivery of as many as 100 sets of a video surveillance system for tram carriages. Each set will consist of the following components:

  • LCD monitor - 1 pc.,
  • video recording system (internal camera monitoring the space in front of the carriage, overhead camera fitted in the driver's cabin and external camera monitoring the door space) - 1 pc.,
  • recorder - 1 pc.,
  • system master software.

The surveillance system will perform its functions both inside and outside the vehicles. The described functions are primarily the recording and display of camera images.

What are the advantages of such solutions? The video surveillance system will:

  • increase sense of safety among passengers and crew,
  • make it possible to reproduce the course of events,
  • enable detection of the perpetrators of all video surveillance system and offences in the vehicle,
  • enable controlling the work of tram personnel,
  • enable settling disputes between passengers and the tram driver and those concerning acts of vandalism (thanks to the high quality of footage used as evidence).

The images from the video cameras will be recorded on the hard disk of the recorder and the recordings will be downloaded via a wireless network. It will be possible to view the recorded material in real time in the vehicle or playback the recordings on the recorder at dispatch centre. In addition, it will be possible to view archive recordings.

When it comes to public transport vehicles, they are actually already equipped with video surveillance systems as a standard. We are happy to be part of this.
